Question number 1

Which of the Flatteners do you feel is the most important?

I think the most important flattener is flattener #2 The New Age of Connectivity because it sets up the system that most of the other flatteners use to function. Besides aiding the other flatteners in "flattening" the invention of the browser also allowed businesses to reach out to employees they never would have been able to reach without it. Such as the people from India mentioned in Flattener #5, Outsourcing.

I think the most important flattener is the first one, the fall of the Berlin Wall because it was impossible to have a global policy for any business before this. It helped lead the way for future flattening.

I think that the most important flattener is the first one - the fall of the Berlin Wall. Without the Berlin Wall falling none of the other flatteners would have gone global, just to the non-communtist countries. The world would still be "round".

The most important flattener to me is flattener #10, the steroids. This flattener will enhance some other flatteners like uploading, outsourcing, supply-chaining, insourcing, and in-forming. It allows you to communicate with anyone anywhere in the world farther, faster, and more cheaply, and more people across the world are beginning to work together.

I think that flattener number 1 was the most important because if the wall wouldn't have fallen the whole world wouldn't have gone global. Also the wall falling had a metaphor meaning, the world was becoming more open to "share". They were becoming more open to sharing business with each other, and learning from each others mistakes

i think the most important flattener is number one. just like what we talked about in class, it was sorta the beginning of it all; breaking down barriers and having global communication.

to me the most important flattener is uploading. i think it was #6. My reasoning for this is that without uploading we wouldn't have anything on the internet, all of that is uploading, so all of the information that's there now would be nonexistant. The sharing of pictures, videos, and text over the internet all involves uploading.

i think that the most important flattener is the second one. This one is the most important one because it made it very easy for people to communicate globally. It made it easier for everyone to access the internet which essentially "flattens" the world.

I think the most important flattener is flattener #3, because people had to interact with others to talk to them before the e-mail came into play. This made it easy for anyone to just say anything about anything and sometimes that is not always a good thing. With people not actually taking there time to write, read, and think about what they are saying they may not mean what they say.

I think the most important flattener is the first one because before the Berlin Wall there was no global policy and after the fall it opened it up for the world.

Mitch.R said...

I think the second flattener is the most important one because this makes us able to communicate with other people across the world so stuff gets done better and quicker this makes everyone at a level playing field

In my opinion flattener #1 is the most important. Not just because of the fall of the Berlin Wall, but because of the effect it had afterward. The wall falling was the first sign of the world balancing and finally leveling out. For some it was bad, but for the majority is was like a "Get out of jail free card" It opened up the world to so many new opportunities and had a domino effect causing nation after nation to gain freedom. Without the fall of the wall our world wouldn't be able to communicate globally which means technology wouldn't be very useful. Without this flattener, none of the other ones would be in existence. :)

I'd say that the most important flattener was the 2nd. While the fall of the Berlin Wall opened up communication, the rest of the flatteners sprouted from our new ability to connect with the rest of the world. Without connectivity, we wouldn't have outsourcing, uploading, insourcing, or anything else. The Internet started everything.

I think the most important flattener is #10, the steroids. It allows people to communicate with others, anywhere at anytime on any computer, faster and cheaper. What more could you want?

brandon k said...

i think that flattener #1 is the most important because it allows global trade to all countries because the iron curtain fell, it is also the the same time that windows 3.0 starts

Ashley K. said...

I think the most important flattener is the first one because after the wall fell windows started to rise. After that is when globalizatin and outsourcing really began.

All the flatteners are tied together making it very hard to pick the most important flattener.
But in my personal opinion, I think that number ten is the flattener doing the most flattening. Without it, none of the other flatteners could do much growth or flattening of the world. Creating a way for information and communication to travel faster, farther, and cheaper, overall more efficiently for companies, levels the playing field in all countries around the world...Likewise for the individual platform. As technology gets better and better, the steroids flattener will also continue to improve, which will make this flattener a constant flattening force in Globalization 3.0.

I believe that the most important flattener is numero dos because now that we have the internet we can pretty much know what we want to know just by clicking a button. The internet is accesable from a 5 year old child to a 90 year old man. the internet pretty much seeled the deal in flattening the world.

Like about a third of the other bloggers, i think that the first flattener, the fall of the Berlin way is the most important flattener. With out the fall, we wouldn't have a global market, just about half a world. The fall also opened up the market to products from the countries that were once behind the wall.

allie r. said...

I think the most important flattener was the first one, the Berlin Wall coming down and windows going up. When the wall came down it was sort of a metaphor for the whole world becoming connected. This flattener lead the path for the rest of the flatteners. The world was starting to learn the global communication and now we would be lost without it.

I think the most important flattener is the first fall of the Berlin Wall, cuz when it was up it made it impossible for companies to have global policies, but then when it was down companies could finally have national standards for plicies with every country...

I think that the fall of the Berlin Wall was the most important flattner. Even though flattener #2 is also very important because of the invnetion of the browser, we would not have been able to communicate on a completely global level if the Berlin Wall was still standing.

Sarah O said...

I think the most important flattener so far in the book is #2. I think that #2 is the most important flattener because it was really the first technology to make it posslble to communicate globally. By having the web, it flattens are world today because it makes everything so easy so that we dont have to work at all.:)

Sarah B. said...

i think the most important flattener is number one. if the wall wouldn't have come down, there is a good chance the progress we have made since then wouldn't have happened.

Ashley G. said...

I believe that the first flattener is the most important because it influenced all of the other nine flatteners, and it was like the base of everything.

Cheryl W said...

I think the most important flattener is flattener #9 Informing because it made so many things so much easier to do because the internet was there to do almost anything such as:editing, researching, and even entertainment, all on the computer. Thanks to Google, Yahoo and MSN.

I think that the most important flattener is "work flow software." This is my opinion because this flattener made it so that every software, no matter what company made it, uses the same code for the internet. This made going to the internet easier because there is only one, instead of different companies making thier own.

I think that the most important flattener is the second one. Without the option for everyone with a computer to use the internet, many of the other flatteners couldn't even exist. The internet is one of the biggest things we use in our daily lives, and most people couldn't imagine a world without the it.

Tia said...

In my opinion, the first flattener is the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall kept many people ignorant of the rest of the world. If the Wall hadn't fallen then the other flatteners wouln't have had the full effect on the rest of the world. The Wall falling was sort of the base for the flattening to start on.

brittany f said...

i think the most important flattener is outsourcing. It is the most important, because people all over the world can work for a company that doesnt even exist in there country. It is scary and amazing at the same time.

Another big one would be insourcing, because now we all know that UPS does alot of things you would never imagine. I think its cool how it fixes computers, or runs companies for people.

I think the most important flattner is flattner number 2. I believe The New Age of Connectivity is the most important one because it really opened up the whole world with one another and allowed people to communicate with others. Without this flattner, many of the other ones following it would not be able to happen.

Jessica E said...

i think the most important flattner is #1 the fall of the berlin wall because its what started it all and if it hadnt taken place the other flattners wouldnt have gone global.

Tyler C. said...

I think the most important flattener is uploading. With uploading people could communicate over the internet. They could send pictures to each other and talk. They could also post what they thought about a book or somthing else.

Derek A. said...

I thought that the most important flattener was the fall of the Berlin Wall. I thought this because this wall was holding back the entire world from advanceing in a way. With it down a flood of information spread and the world was allowed to connect and advance.

Jeffman said...

I would say the 6th, uploading brings everyone together on an equal basis.

Kay F. said...

In my opinion, the most important flattener is a combination of #1 and #2, but more importantly the latter. "The New Age of Connectivity" is the most important because almost every other flattener builds off of it in some way. Browsers made information accessable everywhere and to anyone who could afford the technology. The fall of the Berlin Wall is also very important because it increased the size of the flattening world. Without the fall, yes the world would probably still have flattened, but the entire Soviet Union wouldn't have. The fall of the Berlin Wall started a chain reaction; and it's hard to guess either way what might have happened if the wall never fell.

AlonsoF said...

I believe that the most important flattener is flattener #2 because most of the flatterners following this one depend on it. Flattener #1 is also important because it lead to flattener #2, but flattener #2 lead to all the other flatteners.

jAke NNNNN said...

I think flattener #2 is the most important because anyone can communicate with anyone in the world whenever and wherever. It allows companies to expand and gain more employees.

CodyM said...

I agree with Nathan Bjerke. The second flattener allows all of the other flatteners to flatten the world.

I agree with Bailey, I think that the 1st flattener was the most important because the fall of the Berlin Wall opened the eyes of the world to see it as a single market.

I think the most important flattener is Steroids because electronics have a huge impact on this world. A lot of electronics have allowed humans to do many things that they could have never done before. I'm sure someday in the future machines will be able to do any job a human can do and work will be done so much faster. Also wireless things will allow us to communicate so much easier and do many other things much easier.

In my opinon, the Fall of the Berlin Wall is the most important Flattener, because it opened up many new thinks to countries and their citizens which helped begin the start of globalization.
